Polished & Powerful Week Day 3: Crown Nail Lacquer

At the 6th Annual Naturalista Expo in College Park, Maryland, I stumbled across a beautiful nail polish vendor, Crown Nail Lacquer. Six months later, we meet again at another natural hair expo: the 18th Annual Baltimore Natural Hair Care Expo.

In case you can’t tell, I’m a pretty loyal customer. So I had the pleasure of interviewing Crown’s founder: Dr. Alyanna Brown about how she soaks off a week’s hard work.

What is your favorite color to wear on your nails?

Alyanna: “I love to wear colors that feed off the season we are in, so currently I am listing over nudes, cranberries, and forest green shades.”

What is your go to “all occasion” polish?

Alyanna: That would have to be ‘Tanning In Tahiti’, it makes its own statement all while staying in its’ place! I can literally have on any color clothing or accessories and this nail color will complement it.”

How often do you change your nail polish?

Alyanna: “I change my nail polish every 2 weeks as a standard, but have been able to get to a third week with no chips or damages.”

What are you wearing on your nails right now?

Alyanna: “Right now, I am rocking Crown’s ‘Green Come True’ a beautiful Forest green color.”

Besides getting your nails done, what is your favorite way to pamper yourself?

Alyanna: “Skincare is very high on my self care list, so I love going to get facial treatments.”

What time of day are you most productive?

Alyanna: Definitely the wee early hours of the morning (4am/5am).”

Tell me about your proudest moment.

Alyanna: “Hmmmm proudest moment. Well honestly I have 2, the first would be graduating with my Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree from Florida A&M University with high honors and my most recent, 2nd Proud moment would be stepping out on a limb and introducing Crown Nail Lacquer to the world. I worked on it for so long in the privacy of my own home, but tip toed with the idea of launching for quite some time. Thus far it has been one of the greatest decisions I have made in my life!”

What advice do you have for future Girl Bosses?

Alyanna: “To all of the future Girl Bosses in the making, I want you to know that you have 2 options: To either Win or To Learn! Embrace every mistake as a lesson learned and continue to press forward toward all of your goals. You are the only one that can stop what is destined for you! Always remember that!”
