I meet Jasmine Bazemore of Seven Cosmetics Beauty at the 2016 For Sisters Only Expo in DC. Since then, I’ve had a: brand ambassadorship, exclusive coupon code, guest feature, and tons of swatches with Seven.
At Productive and Pampered, this week is my Annual Girl Boss Series where I recognize women-of-color owned nail polish. Jasmine shares how she handles her business without neglecting herself.
What are your favorite colors to wear on your nails?
Jasmine: “My #1 favorite color to wear is Bet On It. It’s a beautiful and delicate mauve purple, and it makes me feel so classy. Second favorite is Poppin’. Its a pinkish “chrometallic” and a head turner. At the same time it’s not too loud so it literally goes with everything. We coined the term chrometallic because of Poppin’. It’s a chrome mixed with metallic and so unique!!”
What is your go-to “all occasion” polish?
Jasmine: “Probably Poppin’. It’s a great color to wear going out, especially with that little black dress. It matches almost anything. I get tons of compliments when I wear it!”
How often do you change your nail polish?
Jasmine: “Every 3 days or so. I used to change my polish daily, but now that I’m a mom I don’t have as much time to do that. When I’m testing new colors it gets crazy though; I’ll change it 4-5 times a day.”
What are you wearing on your nails right now?
Jasmine: “I’m actually wearing one of our new colors that hasn’t been released yet! It’s a beautiful nude color and I haven’t decided on a name. I’ve been getting tons of compliments though, so this ones definitely a keeper!”
Besides getting your nails done, what is your favorite way to pamper yourself?
Jasmine: “I love cooking so when I’m in the mood to spoil myself I get gourmet on em. I replicate some of my favorite restaurant meals from scratch. It’s a ton of fun too! If I don’t feel like cooking I’ll take myself out to eat at a fancy restauarant. I’m such a foodie.”
What time of day are you most productive?
Jasmine: “Probably late morning to mid day. I’ve never been a morning person and I need a good hour or so to get in the groove. I’m getting better at early mornings since having my daughter though.”
Tell me about your proudest moment.
Jasmine: “I have 3 proud moments. 1 – birthing my baby girl! 2 – starting this business with my sister. It truly is my passion and my dream. 3 – taking the necessary steps to become a licensed nail technician. I’ve always loved doing nails but was never officially licensed. I’m proud of myself for pursuing what I love.”
What advice do you have for future Girl Bosses?
Jasmine: “Don’t be afraid to chase your dream and most importantly START NOW. Start today! Don’t put off starting your dream because you don’t believe you have the right resources, or you don’t have enough money, etc. All you have to do is start now and you will learn and grow each day. The sooner you start the sooner you can reach your goals. Get rid of excuses and start now! Wish I would have told myself that years and years ago!”
