Blogger Tag: It’s Beauty And Braids Turned One

May 21st 2016, I decided to become a blogger. Blogging has opened the doors for me that I’ve always imagined. I’ve accomplished so much within the past year:

   * Seven Cosmetics {December 2016 – Present}

   * The Elephant Necklace  {January 2017 – Present}

• Covered the B.A.S.H. Pop-Up Shop in DC {April 23rd 2017}

• 3 Sucessful Giveaways:

   * Candle Giveaway {August 2016}

   * Cookouts on Christmas Giveaway {December 2016}

   * Birthday DELUXE Giveaway  {May 2017}

• 2 Sucessful Social Media Themed Weeks

   * July 2016 Soy Candle Week

   * Spring 2017 Nail Polish Week  {March 26th – April 1st}

• This WordPress website

#CandleOfTheDay Segment  {2016}

• 619 Instagram followers (and counting)

… and this is only the beginning!

So in honor of It’s Beauty and Braids turning One, here’s my blogger reflections – The Blogger Tag

1. When did you start your blog?

I started my blog on May 21st 2016

2. What do you blog about?

I blog about deals on: cosmetics, natural hair products, candles, bath/body products, spa products, events, and decor; while promoting living YOUR life to the fullest.

3. What camera and moto editing software do you use?

Right now I use my iPhone 6S camera. The key is that I stage my products as if I’m at a photo shoot. For editing, I use the PicMonkey app. But in the future, I do plan to start using professional equipment.

4. Have you meet anyone famous on your blogging journey?

Yes! I’ve meet: actress Bern Nadette Stanis {Thelma from the 70’s Black sitcom Good Times}, natural hair YouTuber Mahogany Curls, gospel singer Brian Courtney Wilson, neo-soul singer Anthony Hamilton, and ex NFL players Santana Moss and Gary Clark {Washington Redskins}

5. Is blogging your profession or your hobby?

Blogging is my hobby turned full time profession.

6. Why did you start blogging?

The Spring of 2016, I was stressed out from adjusting to my new job at the time. So I decided to buy things that relax me: candles, scented body wash, perfumes, etc. After years of admiring other bloggers, I thought “Why don’t I blog about what relaxes me? I have something to offer the world too 😃!” One year later, I’m still here!

7. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

My favorite thing about blogging is the joy I feel when someone tells me that they bought a product, or went to an event, because they saw it on MY website.

8. What do you find is the hardest about blogging?

What I find the hardest about blogging is consistently providing interesting context. I do my best to NOT bore my readers.

9. How do you stay motivated to keep writing?

When I think about my ultimate goal of working in the entertainment industry, and when I think about the young girls I want to inspire – I keep writing.

10. What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?

My greatest failure was posting on social media at times where my followers weren’t logged on. What I learned from that was the best times to post on social media: by specific platforms, AND by each day of the week.

11. Tell us about your proudest moment.

My proudest moment was when I went to the July 2016 Fashionista Flea Market in DC {now known as the B.A.S.H. Pop-Up Shop} and the owner of 14th Place Candles recognized me … ME!!! It was my first time being recognized as a blogger out in public. By then, I had only been blogging for almost two months! That’s when I realized “Wow, I’ve really got something going here!”

12. Do you have any specific goals for the rest of this year?

Yes I do! March 2017, I was accepted into the Disney College Program for the Fall 2017 semester! So one of my MAJOR goals for the rest of the year is to take as much Disney footage for my blog as I can. This is a GREAT opportunity, and I’m really excited about it.

13. What are your blogging goals for the next year?

Within the next year, my goals are to: own a professional camera, sell It’s Beauty and Braids products on my own website, and to cover entertainment industry events that are for people of color like me.

14. Where would you like to be in blogging 5 years from now?

Five years from now, I want to be the go-to blogger for all things: cosmetics, natural hair products, candles, bath/body products, spa products, events, and decor.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to EACH AND EVERY member of my tribe for riding along this blogging journey with me. I am EXTREMELY humbled.
